Copper is an element from the periodic table of elements with the symbol (Cu) and atomic number 29.

Copper has a reddish color, is a very good electricity and termic conductor. Copper has been used by mankind since the dawn of civilisation, the archeologists discovered objects from as far as 8700 BC.

It was one of the first metals used due to the fact that small quantities from it appear in some places in free form. The main copper minerals are: Calcozine (Copper sulfure) calcopirites (copper fero-sulfure), cuprite (copper oxyde).

The method used to extract copper depends on the ore nature. If copper is found in free form it could be separated by shredding the ore in small pieces and mixing with water.

Copper, being relatively havy will fall to the bottom. Copper has a purity of over 99% and is used for the water and gas pipes, roof insulation, ornaments and various tooling.

Due to the fact that copper is a good termic conductor it is also used at boilers and other devices that imply termic transfer or copper foil in a single or double layer as PCB. The name origin: from the Lating Cyprium (based in Cyprus Isle).
